AUS-MEAT Limited is an industry owned company operating as a joint venture between Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and the Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC). AUS-MEAT runs efficient, disciplined business practices operating under internationally recognised Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001:2008.

Quality Management Systems (QMS)

Quality Management Systems can be defined as a set of policies, processes and procedures required for planning and execution (production, development, service) in their core business area of an organization. QMS integrates the various internal processes within the organization and intends to provide a process approach for project execution. QMS enables the organizations to identify, measure, control and improve the various core business processes that will ultimately lead to improved business performance.

AUS-MEAT Accreditation - QMS

AUS-MEAT Limited offers accreditation programs for the Australian and New Zealand Meat Industry where Accredited Enterprises must implement an AUS-MEAT approved QMS designed to ensure consistency and accurate product description.

Each Accredited Enterprise (Abattoir, Boning Room, Cold Store, Wholesale /Food Service operation) must establish and maintain a QMS approved by AUS-MEAT, which covers all activities conducted within the Enterprise which use or may impinge on the AUS-MEAT Language. All QMS documentation, including the QMS Manual must be approved by AUS-MEAT prior to Accreditation. The Enterprise must ensure that the documentation is varied from time to time to conform with any variations in the National Accreditation Standards or the AUS-MEAT Language or any other variations required by AUS-MEAT Limited.

National Feedlot Accreditation Scheme (NFAS): is an industry self-regulatory quality assurance scheme initiated by the Australian Lot Feeders Association (ALFA) and managed by the Feedlot Industry Accreditation Committee. The NFAS administers a national program where Beef feedlots can demonstrate they are operating in accordance with the requirements in relation to the key issues of animal welfare, environment, meat quality and food safety.

National Saleyards Quality Assurance (NSQA): The National Saleyards Quality Assurance Program (NSQA) was originally a joint initiative of The National Association of Saleyard Service Organisations (NASSO) and The Australian Council of Livestock Agents (ACLA). The program is now owned and operated by National Saleyards Quality Assurance Ltd, which is a company in its own right owned by members of NSQA. The National Standard and the NSQA Program together provide the Saleyard Selling Industry with a benchmark and a mechanism for maintaining the integrity of Saleyards as an integral part of the Livestock Production and Processing Industry in Australia.
